im a new cook, help me!! pot roast!!?

im a new cook, im 21 and have a little family, so im always trying to make new things, i never made a pot roast and my mom wasn't home, sooooo what i did, the recipe said tpo cut all the fat off the roast, i got a top roast, and i thought the white stuff (connective tissue) was fat, will the roast be ok without it or should i just start over?
