Im Asian. I dun understand why Westerners could travel for few weeks or

months, don't they have a job? As a working Asian, we could only get our annual leaves for the purpose of traveling. After few days or the most 1 week, we have to get back to work. But whenever I went traveling, I noticed that a lot Westerners travel for few weeks or months. Don't they need to get back to work?
 
At my last job i had over two weeks paid vacation. This happen because of all the overtime i worked the year before. So it may be the same for the people you met.
 
In america, with most jobs you earn paid vacation time, and people just let it build up over years and years.
 
Our culture promotes Hyper individualism. We are taught to be independent rather than work as a team. Our whole society sees work as something to do to pass time. Not to take care of their needs. And most people have jobs they don't want to do in the first place. A college graduate won't work a McDonald's. For it is beneath them. Kids coming out of high school today think they are gonna walk right into a 50k year income. And Since mommy and Daddy never showed them how society really works. They just rather travel to "find themselves". Westerners are very over indulgent in their ways. And many lack the impulse control they need develop work ethics, and discipline.
 
They put all the vacation time in this period or they have study leave, year abroad etc
Or they just bums and don't work, how u like that idea?
 
Yeah most working class americans can't its only 1 week off, but many upper class ones can get long vacations if they have been working in the same company for many years, but yeah I don't understand it either I wish I could travel for a few months lol

Yeah I noticed that too. I wonder how they managed to. They could be 1) Self-Employed or 2) Have a lot of money saved up somewhere, maybe stocks or funds.

If you look it up you will actually find that Westerners work longer hours, with less vacation time than our European counterparts. I know that doesn't make you feel better in Asia, but I thought I'd mention it. Most Americans will get 1 or 2 weeks of vacation. As your time with a company grows generally your vacation time grows too. Sounds like you need to move over here!
