I know that turning off lights, TV, stereo and all that when you leave the room saves energy, but it is still plugged into the wall, so wouldn't it still use energy? Should I unplug the TV and such when I'm sleeping? Or is turning it off good enough?

keep doing what you're doing, unplug everything if you want to. I keep my bills low by turning the furnace off when I'm not at home and when I go to sleep. I have a heat lamp to heat rooms that I'm occupying also.

turning it off is fine.

also, watch how much you have to heat or cool your house. use CFL (compact flourescent lightbulbs) that use 2/3 less energy than incandescent lights. there is also a water heating system that only heats the water when you need it, instead of how traditional hot water heaters kepp large amounts of water hot just in case you need it. (rennae is the name brand i think) have thermostat timers so that your heat/AC only turns on maybe half an hour to an hour before you get home from work. add extra insulation to your walls and attic. carpool.

unplugging is best. invest in a few power strips so you can just switch them off.
also look into cfl light bulbs.
