South So I need help!? I'm going to DC in the winter in December and I'm trying to figure out what kind of shoes I should wear. Some say rubber boots, other say Uggs or Timberlands. Any specific brands or types of shoes that work best?? Also what is a typical wardrobe in DC? Anytype of answers or help is greatly appreciated!

Hi. i lived in DC for 9 years and am from the south originally. I would take comfortable shoes to walk around during the day for sure. You could buy a cute pair of "rain boots" or "riding boots" to walk around in. www.piperlime.com or www.endless.com have great selections and they aren't too pricey. anything from Anthropologie will be good too. i would definitely check out Anthropologie's website www.anthropologie.com and they have a feature that let's you choose your look by your activity - and they show you entire outfits to model your clothes by. and J.Crew has cheap/ good looking winter shoes. I was a fool and wore heels during the day and at night - :) but on weekends i would wear my Uggs or Campers or designer Cowboy boots.

Timberlands would be good. I went to DC last December, and I was miserably cold. Warm boots insulated boots, and a good warm coat. The coat I wear in Atlanta is not warm enough in DC. A coat with a hood would help. Also get a think scarf. If you plan to do any walking in the downtown DC area a scarf will be a great asset. Also get warm gloves. If you can take Vitamin C and cod liver oil tablets. The two will help to insulate your system. Trust me, if you start now, you will be glad you did.

DC is amazing and diverse and people are not going to care what you wear! don't worry about it, just get warm clothing :)
