Ok number one no you dont need to put a data plan on that phone. I have the Blackjack and I worked at AT&T and its is not required for text messages. Unfortunately you are looking at doing a master reset. It sounds to me that your OS is running into some errors. If that doesnt work you might be needing to reload your OS. Although if you have already done that and it is still giving you the same problem then you might want to call and find out if you can warranty it. If you do a master reset and are familiar with Active Sync I would try to back up your data so you dont lose anything.

Every time I turn off my phone&turn it back on, it has delete all my texts since the 6th of February. Also, it brings back texts I have deleted&If I try and delete messages, it makes me turn off the phone in order to even open my sms inbox. Any ideas as to how I could fix this problem, or why it's being caused, would be wonderful. I'm fed up with this phone&I have to live with it for anther year. I also would like to avoid resetting my phone because I've done that once before&this just happened again. Any help would be wonderful. Thank you.

Well, here are some steps you could take. If you are not set up with a data plan with At&t, you must do so as this type of mobile phone is set up on a special server. Or you could try resetting the phone or bring it into a At&t retail store so they can fix this manually or simply give u a replacement! I hope I helped!
