I'm interested in Soylent Green... should I read the book or see the movie?

I was born in '98 so I have never seen it, but it looks interesting. If you've seen it, do you think it is good or not? I saw a couple of comments on the movie trailer on YouTube that said it was boring. Also they ruined it for me and told me it was people... would it still be interesting? Oh, and it's not that I wouldn't be ABLE to read it (I just read the scarlett letter and I am currently reading War and Peace, but I have kind of been neglecting my reading...) it's just that I want to know if it would still be interesting for me. I love sci-fi, too. I read some H.G. Wells in fourth and fifth grade.
