I'm looking for a mid-sized SUV for around 15-17K. Any ideas?

I'm looking for 4x4
I have an 8 month old and this is going to be my mommy car.

So far I'm looking into Jeeps (grand cherokee, liberty, commander)
Saturn VUE
Dodge Nitro

definitely the jeep. Probably the commander. The vue is small and the nitro is IMPOSSIBLE to see out of. Just my 2 cents. I think that it is great you are looking at American cars instead on some japonese piece of junk.

If you are buying used, and that is what I am assuming from the price range, I would stay away from domestic cars. They have a terrible service records, and their price depreciation is through the roof. Look into Toyota RAV4 or Highlander, Honda CRV, or Mazda CX7

I have a Dodge Durango because we got twins. It's big and has extra seats in back but we keep them down for room for groceries and stuff. It has a lot of room.

the Saturn Vue, the Liberty, and the Nitro would probably be the best options. the other two are mostly made for camping and driving off road
