Like Gantz, Elfen Lied, Paranoia Agent, School Rumble 2nd semester, or even Shuffle (it could have mythical creatures just as long as its realistic)
 
I find no anime other to be realistic especially none of the above. Catherine however has realistic a realistic plot and great story with a surreal twist. It's hard though... I feel it would make a great movie.
