I'm meeting him for the first time, how do I stop it from being awkward..?

I met someone online who became a very close friend of mine, and actually ended up becoming my boyfriend, online

I'm meeting him for the first time next week

We're meeting in a public place, with plenty of people, we have both been there before, myself more than him, and a friend of mine is coming with me

We have texted and called each other, and talk to each other on IM daily for some time now

I am certain he is who he says he is, but precautions have been taken, just incase

We're meeting in a shopping complex with a large open mall, plenty of shops indoors and out, parks, a cinema, restaurants, everything basically

So far all we know is when and where we are meeting

It would be great if you could give me some advice as to how to stop this first encounter from being awkward

Also, what are some ideas as to what we can do?
How to I greet him, and say goodbye?
How long should the time last?
..and also, any other advice or comments you wish to make would be appreciated

For background information, we're both 17, and serious about a proper relationship, not messing around
