I'm meeting with a reputable breeder for Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers on Sunday. She only has the mom dog, the father was a stud from another state, so unfortunately, we won't get to meet him. I was wondering what questions I should be prepared to ask? This is the first time I'm getting a dog through a breeder (all others previously were adopted) and want to make sure I'm doing this the right way. $1800 is a lot to pay for a dog, but not too much if it's bred right.
I know the father is a Champion and pretty sure the mom is too (one of my questions.) All health tests have been done on both dogs (she said they follow the National website’s Code of Honor which lists which tests, National eye and hip certification, etc.) and they are listed as breeders with the SCWTOA site. She has also been highly recommended to me by another SCWT reputable breeder.
My questions so far are:
1. What has your life been like with a Wheaten?
2. What are your good and bad experiences with your Wheaten?
3. How many shows has your dog and the stud dog won?
4. What does your 1 year health guarantee cover?
5. Will you help us if in 5 years our dog comes up with a serious genetic health problem (which is doubtful, but still could happen), even though you only offer 1 year?
This is the mom's first litter, but the breeder has bred her mom previously and she had 3 litters before retiring. I believe she still has her mom (my pup's grandmom).
What other questions should I ask the breeder? What questions should I expect from her? I have nothing to hide, but want to be prepared to answer what she asks.

DEADGAME: Why on earth are you SO CRUEL??? I know the correct terms, but YA stars out the word B*tch so what wrong with saying mom? She is the mother after all. GET A GRIP!! You are always so damn nasty to everyone! What is your problem??
And I am not a kid. I'm 29 and am fully aware of how to take care of a pup. If you can't help, don't answer!

DEADGAME, I wouldn't WANT a pup from you. As cruel and heartless as you sound, the poor thing would be frightened to death the rest of its life. I just don't understand why on earth you are so nasty and miserable!
