Well, I have had real problems communicating with people. At home/ outside of school, I talk to people normally and regularily, but when im at school, im pretty much silent the whole day. I looked on the internet for psychological disorders and found something similar to what i got, and im worried that i may have it. it's called Selective Mutism, a social anxiety disorder in which a person who is normally capable of speech is unable to speak in given situations. I am not able to speak at school (fear of getting made fun of because of my voice) and, well, a lot of my symptoms match with what came up on the symptoms for the disease. Now I'm worried, because I have a psychological disorder (possibly) and I dont wanna see a psychologist, shrink, or any kind of mental doctor (had bad experiences with them, claiming i was psycho, which im not). What do I do now???I wanna get treatment for this but all these psychologist, and therepists, well theyre pricy. my family doesnt know about me having this, and they think im quite normal. am i paranoid? I seriously think i have this disorder. How do I get over this??? How can I get over social anxiety??? I want to communicate and be with people, but i fear rejection and gettng made fun of. How can I overcome this psychological disorder on my own?Disorder I think I have:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selective_mutismI match with all the symptoms and im worried. That or I got Social Anxiety disorder, because I do talk to friends and family, but other than that, no one else.

RARE psychological disorder in children: are you sure you match with all the symptoms? its possible you have the disorder though I'm just thinking your extremely shy. Do you ever speak in school? Either way I would just look up shyness overcoming on google and go from there. if the symptoms really are preventing you from behaving normally in life, then i might go see a shrink. and change the shrink up since the last one was clearly stupid.

Seeing a therapist won't make you a psycho. No one at your school would have to know about it. Can you just talk to your parents about this? When I self- diagnosed myself with schhizotypal on the internet, I was positive that I had it. But let's face it; the internet isn't always right. I went to my mom and went to see a counselor, who i'm still with, and I just got off meds, which didn't help. And I'm still suicidal, and I started cutting myself. You can't let yourself get to this point... I didn't want the kids in my school to find out, so I jsut decided not to tell them. There is no shame in getting help, if you really think that you've got a problem. Good luck, and remember that things will work out for you.

These days it is very common for people to be scared and sad. There are more people taking medication this year than in the history of medicine. I meant medications for depression, anxiety, heart, and pain. If you are wondering if you have a disorder, the best way to find out is through proper screening. Maybe you can be tested in a pilot program. If you are a student, maybe they have some recommendation there. Your local mental health agency is your best bet. If you are covered for insurance, see a good therapist or psychiatrist. At least you will be able to rest about it.

Usually selective mutism is treated by a speech pathologist. If you are confident enough that you have these symptoms then you are going to have to get help to confirm your suspicion and get the help you need. I have had serious social problems all of my life but have never gone to the doctor for it either so I can see where you're coming from. I'm going to put this question on my watch list.

Its not a good idea to self diagnose yourself.Even if you have had a bad experience in the past I would strongly recommend you try a new therapist and see what happens. If this is not an option for you, then why dont you find a motivational book or one that will give you some ideas/help on how to overcome anxiety.I have an anxiety disorder and therapy worked really well for me. I also joined an online group to get advice from people who have gone thru the same things I have. You need to find ways to boost your self confidence in public so go out there and find answers (ie. search the net, join a club, read books, talk to others).I hope you find answers and get help buddy - your a good kid :))

You said "(fear of getting made fun of because of my voice)".In my opinion you are "overly selfconscious" that's all and you are in complete control of that if you "want" to, just let it out a couple of times every now and then you'll get the hang of it and let your classmates be aware of your present and who you are that's the only way to get accepted if you keep being stoic all of the time you may become one (just kidding!). You are fine.Did you know that information from Wikipedia is prohibited by most Professors who teach at College/University ?It's an automatic big "F".These Professors have very good educated reasons not allow their students to use information from that site. You are scared, worried, sad, confused and wondering because of that darn Wikipedia.

My friend, I am a psychologist and u do seem to have anxiety from what i read maybe panick attacks too.......... I cld not not be sure unless I spoke to you personally a few times...The good news is tell ur parents do not be afraid .I know that social services may have a mental health list that can help u on low income,,,I can also tell u most salvation armys hold meetings where u can get to actually hear stories about others dealing with the same and it truley helps.I think by involving ur parents they could understand u better and how u r feeling .............................

THE KINGDOM WITHIN USThis expression is often used. People also say: the Kingdom of I-leaven or the Kingdom of God within us.As to the real meaning of these words there arc only vague ideas, which leave open the main questions: In what way is the Kingdom of God within man? Has it always been within us? Or does it only enter into man later, perhaps through the Word of God?The "Kingdom within us" is closely linked with the Law of the Cycle, which can be easily observed in Nature. The human spirit also is subject to this Law, which means that each one must return to its origin, just as the blood ever again flows back to the heart. But where does the origin of the human spirit lie?In the Spiritual Realm, which we call the Paradise of thehuman spirits, or "the Kingdom of Heaven"; there is his origin, his true home, the Kingdom of God.Far above the Spiritual Realm is the Divine Sphere, andGod Himself in His Unsubstantiality, eternally unapproachableand incomprehensible to the human spirits.Hence the human spirit cannot bear within it anythingDivine, because its origin lies much lower, in the SpiritualRealm. It lives there as an unconscious spirit seed-grain, which isreleased (expelled) from Paradise, and plunges into the materialsubstance of the World that lies below. Here the spirit awakensto full consciousness, and in natural development returns toParadise as conscious of itself, as the "prodigal son" who hasfound his way back to his homeland. The core of man, thus what constitutes the essential part of man, his spirit, is of such a kind as exists in the Spiritual Realm.Through this he is himself a part of the Spiritual Realm, a part which he as earth-man bears within him and which is eternal, whereas all the coverings which envelop the human spirit are transient. When Jesus was asked by the Pharisees "when the kingdom of God should come" I-Ic answered them: "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17, 20 and 21).In the last Wittenberg edition of the Bible of 1545, published during Luther's lifetime, it says, "the kingdom of God is within you".In a 1916 edition of the Bible the same words are still to be found. Later, however, Luther's translation was changed to, "the kingdom of God is in your midst".The reason given for this by various sources was inaccuracy in the translation of the original text, and the objection that the Kingdom of God could not have been within the Pharisees because they had opposed Jesus.Nevertheless we have seen that this is so, because spirit, and with it a part of the Kingdom of God, is in every human being. Except that through evil thoughts and actions this "inner kingdom" has been completely buried in some, and in others it is less strong. But then all is not done with the "Kingdom of Heaven within us". We must earnestly strive, indeed strive with unflinching diligence, really to maintain the link with the native Luminous Fields. We are helped to achieve this by the spiritual power that"s from the same spiritual origin and streams through ~ rcation. The spirit within us, like the physical body, needs its nourishment so that it can grow into the necessary consciousiu•ss which alone makes it a complete human spirit. Just as the physical body is unable to do without water, so does the spirit tired the "Water of Life", spiritual power. It has surely been noticed already by everyone, when a i rong inner shock, whether of deep sorrow or great joy, loosened the dense coverings surrounding the spirit. He then ensed for some blissful moments the nearness of ,this power, ., which he hardly becomes conscious in everyday life. With the help of this spiritual power, and with the gifts and .il>ilities originally vested in him, man would have been in a position to let a Paradise-like condition arise on earth!Instead of this he is suffering today from an extreme selfcstrangement. He has estranged himself from his self, his spirit, Icy allowing the awareness that he has a spiritual core within him to be extinguished.Only through a constant good volition shall we be able to reawaken this consciousness. Therefore let us listen within, let us hearken to the inner voice, and heed every gentle urging of the spirit towards what is beautiful and noble, every sorrow over lost spiritual values, every silent reproach of having done little or nothing yet at all to unfold to full blossom the gifts bestowed by the Creator. When often in the midst of all darkness and all affliction, we are seized by homesickness for bygone beautiful things, for happy hours formerly experienced, for a tender, deeply spiritual mood, as may perhaps have been the case at a Christmas festival, we usually describe this today by the word: nostalgia! But let us just for once examine closely with the inner perception whether behind it there is not hidden the unquenchable longing of the suppressed spirit that strives away from the earth to the Eternal Fields of the Kingdom of God, of which we bear within us the smallest part. With the awakening of this inner longing we draw ever more luminous rays from the Universe, which gradually loosen and eventually altogether dissolve the self-created dark covering, so that the spirit on earth can again shine forth radiantly,as once it did in the springtime of mankind!
