im using the ps3 blu-ray to watch blu-ray dvd's?

my lcd tv only goes up to 1080i why in some blu-ray movies i see a little static for example i am legend on blu-ray is crystal clear at 1080i and i see no static but i will watch blackhawk down and terminator 2 on blu-ray on the same tv using the ps3 blu-ray i can see static whats the cause of this
 
Not sure what you mean by static. But from the examples you gave, it could be how the movie was originally recorded. Both movies you mentioned with static are older, whereas I am legend is newer.

If the static you are seeing is in the shades of black, that is normal with LCD's. They tend to not do as well with black as a plasma does.
