Alright so to set up question its not specifically the setup its more of improving my set up. I have an Onkyo TX NR 509 receiver with 4 Polk audio speakers. I use the set up mainly for playing music and i would say that i run them fairly high(65 out of 80) for a long duration some nights. I have been hitting a lot of issues with the receiver breaking and i am starting to think its from playing them a lot. They are hooked up with 16 gauge wire. My real question is would putting thicker wire and possibly an external speaker control on the system improve the reliability of the system. these where just some of my thoughts though and i am open to any suggestions or advice. Thanks everyone.
The wires are fairly long, what kind of downfall is that putting on the system, is it only quality of sound or other things as well

Good Question. I have never had this happen before, I listen to my music on 2 channel stereo mode at around -35db - -15db on a Yamaha RVX663 with Yamaha & Boston Acoustics speakers if I go to surround sound during a concert movie. Which is quite loud. I use thicker wire however, so that might be an issue. I'd think that you are maxing your amp though. Hope someone can be more informative than me. Good Luck.
