In bittorrent why don't peers connect through my internet?

when i go over to my friends house my bittorrent will connect peers for all of my downloads. but then i shut down and come home and my bittorent will not connect any peers. ALL HELP WOULD BE AWESOME

Your internet service provider might be blocking it.
