In GONE series by Michael Grant, how is Little Pete the cause of the FAYZ wall?

So in the end of LIES, Peteys video console broke, he started screaming, the FAYZ wall came down for a second, and then up again. Can someone explain?! ...

Is the FAYZ Petey's mind (influenced by the gaiaphage?) is it the mental sheet of glass Pete's standing on the edge of? What caused the FAYZ wall? I just need an explanation?! Wiki not helpful. :( oh and what exactly IS the Darkness/Gaiaphage? A weird mutanty creature caused by the radiation and the meteor that spread out over Perdido beach?

HELP!!!
 
The FAYZ was created by LP's power, obviously the most powerful person in period beach, btw. There was a meltdown and he freaked so he did what he thought would stop it. The gaiaphage is (in Astrids conclusion) is something that was on the meteorite (possibly something as simple as a virus) that was mutated by the plutonium it hit on it's way down.
