In Gossip Girl, episode 4 season 2, why does Chuck want to dethrone Blair?

is it because he's still mad that she left him for the Lord, or is it to alienate her from her friends so that she will turn to him- and he won't reject her like last time?

any thoughts?

i personally think it was both...he always plots things like that like when he and blair hooked up and when he was threatening to tell nate...its just cause he likes her
