...newer systems...? ...avoid sodium heart health probs?
My mother-in-law insisted on installing a water softening system because her glassware and dihes were cloudy and "etched" by the previous water supply in the dishwasher. I am concerned about the heart health implications long term of the substitution of sodium for magnesium in the water. My in-laws insist that this new system avoids that type of problem - which is news to me! The softened water tastes awful, and does not rinse soap off the skin at all! These phenomenon tell me that SOMETHING must be going on with the water! Does anyone know if there is some cutting edge system that makes a healthier substitution of ions or other technique?
