In light of Christ's return, why do people quote Matt 24:36 but ignore a hundred

other time indicators? To say no one knows the day or hour is just like a woman's pregnancy. You know that 9 months is the general time frame, give or take a couple weeks. In the same way, Christ's return was predicted very clearly to be within the lifetime of His disciples, over and over again. Why is this ignored or disregarded by so many believers? And is 2 Peter 3:8-9 (day is 1000 years) enough to negate all the verses where Jesus tells them they won't finish going thru the cities of Israel (Matt 10:23) or that He wanted John to remain till His return? (John 21:22)
