why can't government actually adopt the same principle but actually demand it. Of course revenue would possibly be lower but the people would build their own personal wealth and the government would be forced to cut spending on welfare programs. Keep in mind that governement welfare program would easily be replaced by private charity. Constitionally our nation should have more of a flat rate such as 10-20%. It is also fair in the sense that everyone is taxed equally regardless of there lifestyle. The governement should be a subject to it's nation and limited. I'm not saying we should help Forbes 500 richest people but it dosn't make sense to oppress the working class and discourage them from ever becoming rich.

That is why Republicans don`t like taxes, they don`t get acknowledgment that they gave. Maybe we should give them a gathering place where people will see them give with taxes.

A tax on income is a violation of basic human rights.
The only moral and fair tax would be a luxury sales tax:
The poor would pay little or no tax (don't buy luxuries).
The rich would pay a lot of tax (buy lots of expensive luxuries).
No loopholes.
No special tax breaks for people to vote for politicians.
Nobody avoids paying tax because everyone shops at Wal-Mart or other retailers.

20% of someone making 20,000 hurts a lot more than 20% of 500,000 the little guy gets hurt more than the big guy and he can't feed his family so sometimes figures lie and liars figure

Jake, all such fair and reasonable ideas fall apart because only half of the folks pay any income taxes. Of course, they are the ones who constantly complain about "the rich" not paying enough.

It makes perfect sense to discourage success. They can't be dependent on the government if they have more individual freedom.

A new vaccine for prostate cancer just out, cost expected to be $93,000.00 and only 2000 doses the first year. 235,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer each year and 24,000 die from it! Whom do you think will get the vaccine? The others if lucky will get radiation, drugs and surgery for $63,000, who will pay.

You are probably right lets, let the other 200,000 die and save the money! If your son didn't have insurance and had a PSA test at age of 40 with a reading of 4.5, let us see him get insurance, at the age of 47 he has a PSA reading of 23 it may be to late for your son.

Two things in life are certain, taxes and death!

I thought that was primarily the Mormons, although i have heard 10% of excess ie after bills are paid and such from Catholics. I am totally down for a flat tax i don't even make that much and it would still benefit me.
