I'm currently looking to purchase a medium format camera but have absolutely no idea what to look for. i'm a beginning photography student, and i don't know exactly what to search for when looking for a medium format camera. i am mainly looking at two brands, those being mamiya and hasselblad. mamiya, because i like the image quality that their pictures produce and it's an inexpensive alternative to hasselblad's. THAT said, i was looking at some specific models of mamiya's those being the mamiya rz67 and the mamiya c220, the hasselblad that i'm looking into is the hasselblad 501c (which is expensive because of it's zeiss lens).

i've seen the mamiya rz67 in person and it's pretty huge compared to hasselblads cameras. i'm looking for a camera that i can take with me, place around my neck and shoot freely, so that's my concern with the mamiyas.

ALSO, i know that these cameras don't have light meters built in, so how would i go about determining the proper exposures for my frames. One other question would be what are the shutter speeds like for a medium format camera?

basically, i would like to know what medium format cameras you guys would recommend, and also some info on light meters, shutter speeds, and what type of lens to buy if i buy the body and the lens seperately. i hope this made sense.

thanks!
