in valkyrie, why does tom cruise put his eye back in?

why does he put his eye back in when he goes to see hitler? WHY!? is it because hitler doesnt like disabled people? or is he just weird?

It is because Hitler was a freak and didn't like having disabled people around him. then when Von Stauffenburg(Cruise) goes to blow up Hitler the second time, he doesn't stick the fake eye in and the camera shows Hitler's face. i love this scene because he is standing up against a very powerful man. i also love when Tom Wilkonson's character wants Cruise's character to do the hail hitler thing and then Cruise raised his wounded arm missing the hand. it is very dramatic and shows that Von Stauffenburg wasn't afraid of people higher than him.
