So let's say i bought a new movie in a blue-ray disc which is playable in my blue-ray player. What format is the movie in? Is it ".xvid"?
Can the format, whatever it is, be played in pc with vlc or other player? I've seen "blue-ray ripped movies" which were in .mp4 or .avi. Does ripping mean copying the movie from the disc and convert it to mp4 or avi so one can watch it anywhere?
If yes, why don't movies (with 5.1, 1080i ... you know the blue-ray quality) come in discs in simple mp4 or avi format? Is it simply because the capacity limit of a dvd?
