Interesting topics for a sociology research paper?

Your topic sounds cool....One thing you could do is just make it a broader topic such as..... The Effects of the Internet and Internet Usage on Society
That way you could talk about how the internet affects both people personally in their real-life relationships and social lives, but you could also write about how it has affected things like:
Education and how we gather information
Our Economy/Markets/and Financial System
Entertainment (TV/Music/Movies/communication methods, etc.)
and negatives things such as pornography, gambling, laziness, lying/cheating/doing other anonymous things.
There are so many things you can write about with the internet...that you could even just focus on positive or negative....it really just depends on how long your paper has to be....I'm sure you can do it though

You should do a study of guys like me who flirt on the internet but don't have the balls to do it in real life!!!
