Internet Explorer Shuts Down Unexpectedly?

ok so when i click on internet explorer it pops open then a second later shuts down. i click on it again and it does the same thing. it stays this way for a couple hours and sometimes even a day. then when i try it again after awhile it works just fine. whats going on?
