just got a wii
trying to get internet but don't know if it is safe to upgrade.
I was told that to get it on my wii I would need to upgrade but when I try I get a warning saying that it is unsafe to upgrade if my Wii console has an unauthorized technical modification. What does that mean and how do I know wether or not my console has it? HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

It means it is unsafe to do so if you have hacked or modified your Wii "hard drive" or inside components. If you just bought it new, you are fine.

I have had internet for the wii for a long time without any issues so don't worry about it. Just get it.

well for one thing a virus hasn't been created for the wii yet so yes it's safe to upgrade

You should just upgrade it.
Expecially because Nintendo is now charging for the internet.
and old Wii users get it free.

It only means if you have customized you Wii, then this upgrade can mess it up.
But if you haven't like done anything out of the normal with it, then its safe to upgrade.
