Everytime I start up IE7 for the first time, after my PC starts, it freezes at a blank white page and I either end up with the 'end task' window or I end 'iexplore.exe' through task manager. Also, my SpyBot program keeps popping up telling me it blocked a 'swg file from Google Toolbar'. IE7 works fine when I start it up for the 2nd or 3rd time and then it runs smoothly. It works great when I start IE7 up with no-add ons though, especially without Google Toolbar.

I asked a few friends and they told me to disable unneeded add-ons. I disabled 3 or 4 Google notifier's for my toolbar including Windows Manager and 'Diagnose Connection Problem'. There are also a lot of ActiveX controls that 'have been used on IE' but I didn't tamper with it. Whats left enabled is:

Google Toolbar
Shockwave Flash Object
Sun Java Console
SSV Helper Class

I deleted all of my Temp files, history, cookies, form data, and history and even ran my Symantec AV, which has the latest definition files. My SpyBot program always blocks a 'swg' file which is a Google Notifier for my toolbar. It pops up everytime IE7 freezes.

I run Windows XP Ver. 2002 Home Edition with SP3. It has 512MB of RAM, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1600Mhz, 1.60GHz.

I also think that some of my processes are part of my problem. DoScan.exe which runs at 98% CPU vanishes once it gets to 68k; part of my AV software which is no problem to me since it goes away. The dreaded svchost.exe, though, runs at approx. 27-29k at times.

With that information, could someone please assist me in fixing IE7? Another note, please don't tell me to switch to FireFox. Switching browsers doesn't help as I've had plenty of bugs with it as well.

my computer did the same. I uninstalled/reinstalled google toolbar. It seemed to work after that. But at a friends suggestion, I quit using IE cause of all the bugs. Firefox is much better with fewer bugs. And you should be able to use most of your addons and settings from IE.

Since FireFox gives you bugs as well, I suggest unistalling Google Toolbar and then reinstall it. Another solution is to unistall Google completely and download a different toolbar such as Yahoo's. I've used Yahoo before and works fine. I switched to Google as well and had the same problems as you so I went back to Yahoo Toolbar. Give it a shot.

Best Of Luck,
