Internet stalking and harassment?

I have a problem with someone going around creating false internet accounts using a name I currently use on another site. I have never spoken to the person doing this, but they continue to harass me.

Since last year when this all started I have been receiving harassing and threatening e-mails from people I've never even spoken to regarding these fake accounts claiming to be me. Some of the threats even go as far as them telling me they are going to come take my kids while they are sleeping and take them to a better place!

I don't know any of these people, but the horrible things that these people are saying are real, and they are scaring me.

I've had to change my e-mail address six times, I've changed the handles I've used on the sites I frequent almost 20 times, and they still find ways to contact me and harass me all because of this one person making these fake accounts!

Is there anything at all I can do to stop this, aside from stopping use of the internet entirely? I'm almost afraid to open my e-mails every day because of what might be inside!

What do I need to do to get this to stop? Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated.

I suggest you quit being on the Internet and find another hobby. Seriously.

As soon as someone made a threat against my family, I'd be changing my activities.

Change your email address and don't use it online. Only give it to people you really wish to get mail from. Set up a spam filter and if you don't know who's emailing you...ship it to spam. Don't ever give your email address out on line. Scared to ask what sites you use, if they are iffy, stay away from em.

Email threats are nothing to take serious.
