Internet works but local lan functions do not?

I have a LINKSYS router setup. I can get to internet using any computer connected wether via wireless or cable. But as of a few days ago local lan functions such as sharing, printing etc will not work.
Also have TIVO connected to router via hard wire and it gets all info from internet ok. The share functions seemed to stop working after I ran Registry Repair. Have ran this many times before and not had any problems. Read somewhere that I may have a problem with Winsock2 error but not sure how to fix that if so. Have tried unplugging router for a bit and plugging back in but does not fix problem. Also, I cannot ping one computer on the network from another but can ping things like Google etc.
 
The connections between computers on your local network (LAN) is usually run by Microsoft Networks. This system is very buggy. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. You can set up printer sharing and file sharing but then it does not always work.
You might consider buying a third party system like Network Magic. These are more reliable.
