Introduced friend's cat to my two cats, and now my cats don't get along.?

I have two cats that were adopted together and are 5 years old. My friend needed a pet sitter for his kitten, so I followed the standard way on introducing cats (as posted on here), including the whole room separation, sweaty clothes rub-down, etc. Both cats were eager to meet the kitten, but once the female cat knew it was another animal, she became irate and hissed at everything. She began to attack her brother, and is now treating him like a foreigner! She's constantly growling and hissing and hiding.

The kitten is no longer in the room (I said that I can't watch the kitten). The brother is SUPER stressed that his sister doesn't want anything to do with him-- he yowls throughout the house and desperately wants to play with her. She wont' have it. It's been several hours now. She's now self-imposed a place to hide, and I had to move the litter box and food into the room that she's locked herself in.

She no longer hisses at me, but she growls and spits at her brother of 5 years. Mind you, this is the FIRST TIME I've ever heard her hiss and growl in 5 years. This is exceptionally out of the ordinary for her.

What should I do for them? The kitten, that was in the house for all of 15 minutes, is gone. But now I have two siblings who seemingly cannot get along. Did I just turn my sweet girl into a total b***h in 15 minutes?! What's the deal?

It can take up to two weeks or more to introduce a new cat to the ones you have now. You will have to give your cat time to calm down and that could take a couple of weeks also. Good Luck

ok-well-first off-you can't properly introduce cats in 15 mins. the process takes a lot longer---your female is stressed and will calm down, be patient.

She is just extremely jealous. My male cat, Oscar, is like that. Give her time to realize that the kitten is gone. For some cats it might take longer than several hours to "get over it".
