I have a Betta but I keep him solitary, but here is website that I found

He will eat the fry unless you separate them. Staying in the corner could be a couple of things. Is the tank warm enough? Bettas need temps of 76 to 82 degrees. Colder water makes them very slow and lazy. If you have a strong filter, that could cause him to hide as well. Do to betta's long fins, moving water makes it really hard to swim. Sponge filters are recommended. He could also just be reacting to the change in his environment. I'd just keep a close eye on him for a day or two and see how he's doing after that.

The main issue with bettas in community tanks is compatibility. Since you introduced your betta to the tank instead of the other way around, it should cause less aggression (great job!) Also, make sure you don't have fin nippers like barbs in your tank so your betta is safe. Bright fish (especially red and blue) are very likely to be attacked by bettas, so be careful with those.

It sounds like you're doing a good job though. Good luck!

I would either buy a tank divider or put the fry in a different tank.
