Last Tuesday, I got a female pet rat, but I've realized since that getting her a cage-mate would greatly enhance her life. I'm planning on going to the same pet store tomorrow and getting one of her litter-mates. Since they've only been separated for a week, and they would still be young (3 months or so), would the introduction period be as intense as it normally is? The only experience I've had with rodent acclimation is with two older female gerbils, and that was very difficult, but since rats are more social, and since they would be sisters, it seems like it'd be less of a hassle. Any thoughts or recommendations?
