Introducing solids to baby?

When introducing solids to baby ive been told to give 1 teaspoon pureed food or rice cereal a day then gradually give more each day... Am i suppose to mix it in with my breast milk? Or just give them it straight from the spoon? How did you introduce solids to your baby? What time of day did you give them the solid food to start with?
Any ideas or tips would be very apreciated!

We started little guy around four months.. with basic stage one purees? There right only a few small bites at best actually went in but start with veggies or kids think all solid food is sweet. Wait a few days for allergies, then try a new one.. We waited till mid morning just in case there was an allergy issue but most stage one foods are pretty basic like green beans and squashes, carrots, apple, bananas. Every baby is different it may take two three four times to actually see any results

You should start with baby rice cereal mixed with your breast milk. Make it pretty soupy. You probably won't be able to get more than a couple teaspoons into your baby's tummy the first time. It will probably take a few times for them and you to get the hang of it. Good luck!

I don't remember the measurements but per her pediatrician's suggestions, we started our daughter on rice cereal at 4 months, and then graduated to Stage 1 foods at 6 months. We mixed the rice cereal with water as I did not breastfeed. We fed it to her with a spoon once a day in the morning. Stage 1 foods at 6 months were 3 times a day.
