Okay so here goes:
I bought an iPad from a friend of a friend about a week ago. Great price too! Anyway everything has been working perfectly so far. But I was talking to my friend the other day and the person who I bought the ipad from came along as well. This was the second time I'd ever met him. So, nosy as I am, I asked him how he was able to give me the ipad for such a great price. He then went on to tell me it was a stolen card he'd used. So I was pretty dumbfounded and shocked. Now i'm freaking out because i'm worried that apple might trace it back to me. The ipad was completely new. It came wrapped and in the apple bag and everything so I knew it was legitimate. It has also never been registered until I registered it. I'm pretty scared now. I don't know what can happen. Does anyone think that once this ipad is deemed by the credit card as fraudulent goods they can trace it back to me? :/ HELP !

It is possible for them to trace it to you but what i would do would ask the friend of friend for a receipt (say you need it for taxes) with a wriiten and signed receipt that you bought it from him/her for how much and on what date. If it does get traced back to you say you didnt know where it came from you thought that he bought it from the apple store and just didnt want it and show them the receipt. Its unlikey they will trace it but if they do you will have a receipt.

Good luck and get a receipt with his name and signature saying that you bought it from him.
