Ipad vs. Kindle, Ipad a good eReader?

I already own a macbook pro. My reasons for buying an ipad would be i can read comics on it as well as books, and all the other stuff it does. BUT the kindle is a lot cheaper, and although it has a smaller screen it looks easier to read on. My question is someone who owns an Ipad, how is the screen on your eyes? is it really a suitable eReader?
