iPhone 3GS has sound, speaker and motion sensor issues...?

I got a used iPhone 8GB model A1241. He had tried to jailbreak it and messed it up. Also, I think the screen has been replaced. I had to buy a used SIM card on ebay in order to reset it. Now, I use it as an iPod Touch but also use the app for making/recieving phone calls for free. At first, the sound came and went and I thought maybe I was muting it by accident. Now, the sound doesn't work at all, it just vibrates. When that happened, the microphone quit as well. The motion sensor or tilt sensor never worked. Are these three connected? When I try to go into the iPod feature, it plays for a split second then returns to the previous screen. I tried plugging and unplugging Apple headphones repeatedly and that didn't work. I think this is a hardware problem. Any advice?
