Just bought a 3gs iphone running 4.0.1 completely stock. I have t-mobile and wanna use my sim card but im confused about how to jailbreak then unlock the phone for t-mobile. All the guides I read say that you must have a previously jailbroken phone to do this but my phone was never previously touched, completely stock. Can I still jailbreak and unlock it?

Hi,

If you want to use your t-mobile sim card in your iPhone 3gs, you need to unlcok it from your locked network . Use Remote unlocking method to unlcok your iphone 3gs from carrier lock . it does n't requires jailbreaking . You can get it from any of the online vendors like Theunlockarena.com to unlock it . Once, you have removed carrier lock from your iPhone 3gs, you can use your t-mobile and other GSM sim cards internationally .

Jail breaking

Generally, Apple (iPhone) won't allow you to install third-party applications. If you jailbreak your iPhone, you can install third-party applications. This is the major advantage of jailbreaking.
