Hi... so, here is the story:
My wife mistakenly dropped her iphone 4 in the toilet and didn't notice. Only 15-20 minutes later, she realised what she had done. We took out the iphone, opened the back cover and placed it in rice for 3 days.
We opened the iphone and it worked perfectly, apart from the home button (which was stuck) and the cameras which didnt work.
Being the idiot I am, I tried to fix this myself. So I opened up the iphone and then using youtube, I found a way to clean the iphone using alocohol. I disconnected the logic board connectors (I saw a little corrosion there) and carefully cleaned them with a cotton bud with 70% alcohol and a toothbrush until clean. I then tried to disconnect the dock connector, but in the process - I managed to rip the cable! ...
Anyway, I let the iphone dry for a few mins and put back all the parts / connectors in position. I then tried to open the iphone:
First, it wouldn't open at all. The backlight was on but the iphone didn't respond to anything, not being in a charger or with a cable to itunes. Then - after a while, I tried to open the iphone and the screen gradually started getting white and flickered with a few lines down it. It was then fully white with a few lines before I put it into lock mode. I tried to open it again and it didnt respond.
Since this point, my iphone 4 doesnt turn on and only the backlight is visible. What have I done wrong? Have I destroyed the logic board with the alcohol or is it the ripped dock connector cable? I dont know if holding down the home button and power button will work (as the home button was already broken during the first toilet problem)...
Does anyone know what is wrong and if there is a solution to fix?
