iPhone alternative with PAYG internet ?

I thought about getting an iphone because I wanted internet on the go. Could you suggest a mobile phone or PDA that provides WAP wireless internet access and can use PAYG sims.

I do not want to buy Blackberrys or anything that comes with a contract.
