is 2012 real or internet prank?

well I am kinda scared...I am only 16 and I want to have a life...does any one know if this 2012 is just a internet prank? I never hear about it on tv....so if you can help me out...I am scared.

Look, whether it happens or not, there's nothing you can do about it. Live your life like you want and live every day like it's your last. Don't think about how you're going to die. It makes living unbearable. Take care of any loose ends. Say what you mean, make peace with your god(s). Do what makes you happy and make sure you're doing what you want to be doing with your life and you will be okay.

The mayan predicted that an "age" was going to come to the end. they didn't say the whole human race ws going to die or that the world was going to explode but you never know. twice my mum has lived through the world ending (possibly even more) so there is no reason to worry..just live and enjoy your life while you've got it, have fun.

2012 is a year when supposedly something great will happen, the Mayans predicted that on Dec. 21, 2012 the world would be a part of great disasters. Having that said from people who were better astronomers then the ones we have today, it really seems possible but only time will tell

dont be scared, thats just what they want. they say the same thing in every generation. its supposedly "the apocalypse" on december 21 2012 and that several different remote cultures and religions have great emphasis on this date. however, its just the end of the mayan cycle in my opinion. we have years, months, days, minutes, etc. to mark specific dates. well the mayans were extremely advanced astronomers for their time and they created the mayan cycle. it has to do with the tilt and wobble of the earth and lasts 26000 years or something ridiculous like that until the cycle is complete. if you want to know more then wikipedia... the mayans, mayan cycle, mayan calendar. something about the sun lining up with the milky way galaxy also.

its defenitely not an apocalyptic event... maybe an astronomical event.

btw the guy above me is dumb. the mayans were incredibly advanced for their time, but astronomers today make them look like cavemen. also, youtube is a terrible place to educate yourself about this because it has a bunch of 2012 END OF WORLD crap.

though it has been predicted that several major events will most likely occur on that day and a lot of people will die

Yeah it is freaky, and we all wanna live, but you never know. The Mayan calender has been around for ages, so no it is not just some internet prank. Yes we will die, but it could be in 2012, or it could be tomarrow. You never know. If you are freaked out, ask your parents what people said was gonna happen in 2000, people said the world was gonna end too but did it? NO!
