Is a 1988 Mercedes-Benz S-Class still a nice car?

and if you saw a young person driving it what would go through your mind?

Almost traded for one this weekend.

It's a nice car. And comes with an incredibly "nice" maintenance bill.

And by nice, I mean ridiculously steep.

Cost to rebuild my Toyota's transmission? $1500.

Cost for the 420SEL? $4600. More than the value of the car.

Cost of oil changes, is double.

Insurance? Astronomical.

Etc and so forth.

So, my thought would be "there's a young person who's going to be bankrupt in no time"
