is a cat's fur dangerous/life threatening?

So a lot of people say that a cat's fur is bad and can make you sick.

Two of my cousins told me stories.

Cousin 1: said that he had a friend who had a cat hair go into his lungs and he was hospitalized for two months or more.

Cousin 2: said that she saw a show on tv that that said a girl had a cat hair travel into her ear and it got to the brain and she died. Now that story sounds fake and hard to believe.

They said that because my cat sleeps with me at the right corner of my bed.

Is a cat's fur dangerous and is it bad if my cat sleeps with me?

Wow, if this were the case, have of the world would have died. lol. I am over 60 years of age and have never caught anything from a cat. People breath stuff into their lungs daily, dust, pollen, sometimes a bug but usually these things are filtered out. Someone who doesn't like cats or believes old wives tales is telling you this. Sleep with your cat and don't worry.

No, it's bullshit!!!
I heard the same urban legend from my mother-in-law's best-friend and I gave her friend this 'are you demented look' and I thought how stupid are you to believe that crap?

Not to normal people with healthy lungs but it can prove fatal to people with an allergy to cat fur, or to people with C.O.P.D.

I have a cat allergy and the worst that happens to me is that I sneeze a lot. I've never heard any stories like this, and I greatly doubt that they are true. If you had an extreme allergy maybe you could die, but not by either of these methods. having the hair go into your lungs would be bad yes, but your body is made just so stuff like that doesn't happen. It's fine to have you cat sleep in your bed, don't worry about it.
