Is a Kawasaki Ninja 250 or 500cc considered a sport bike?

Im 18 and likely getting a 500cc Ninja, but i do not want to pay huge amounts of money on my insurance because i have a bike classified as "sport". Is the Ninja family considered sport or is it by engine size? If it is a sport then could you recommend any other sporty looking bikes in the 250,500 range that arent classified as sport. Thanks
 
I would get a supermoto bike like Yamaha YZF250X as my first bike. It's a better bike any way you look at it.
 
Simply put, 18 year old with the brand Kawaski is going to scream dangerous for insurnace companies. You'll have a high payment even if its only 250, and especially at a 500 and higher. Lowest will be cruiser type motorcycle. Even then it run you a lot because of your age. Since your asking about insurance you've probably never taken a safety course, so that will factor into your high payment as well. Like others have said it depends entirely upon your insurance company.

I was going to pay 120 a month through one company, and then found one that would let me pay 54 a month full coverage.
