Is a Nissan 240sx the same as a Nissan Silvia s14?

I was also wondering why Silvia's are illegal in the U.S. or if its just the s15 i don't know much about cars but am trying to learn so don't say my question is dumb or anything hahaha

Unrelated: I have a 240SX and I adore it. Great rear-wheel drive car.
