I am guessing you are thinking about buying a "off-the-shelf" box and don't know what style to buy. Not to sound like a wise-guy ... but the answer is this ... it depends on the speaker's specs, and the application. In general, these type of boxes are a hit-n-miss sound quality with different subs in them. Not only that ... but some speakers are not designed to operate in anything other than a sealed box, while others can only operate in a open box, and still others can be used either way ... it just depends on the driver.
I suggest you go to a professional box builder with your speaker's model, and tell them what kind of vehicle you are putting them in, and the kind of sound you are trying to achieve. They will design you a box built to satisfy your needs.
Good luck!
