Is an android/a machine that can feel a HUGE cliche?

I don't mean falling in love (I don't plan on having that happen in my story). But other feelings, thoughts, and memories, probably.

I plan on having it become a twist in my story that this person in my story is not a human, rather, she is an android/machine that was built to try and replicate humanity.
What if the feelings were there, but as you would expect, they're just a program?
There's more to it than just this basic idea; this is more the bare, bare minimum than anything else.
I don't plan on having the android wondering whether or not the feelings are real. They know what that is. They honestly just don't think that it matters.

Yeah, it kinda is. Depends on your treatment of it - I recall watching movies on sci fi channel that had effectively that same twist, with the same catch that the robots didn't know whether or not their feelings were real.

Still, if you treat it differently, you can still write the story - it just takes effort and skill to do it differently and better.

Robot feels like it's paradox time.

What if the robot knows it's feeling fake emotions, which makes it sad, but it knows that's not real? Then BAM! It's Confusion Central, trains arriving all day.
