Is an r4 from asia not compatible with a ds from the us?

im using the r4. i didnt buy it someone from asia bought it for me and i tried every firmware/kernal and it always says its incompatible. please help
whenever i downloaded a new firmware it always says incompatible and i try a new firmware and it still says incompatible

Well, I've never heard of that problem but Im sure that its the R4 it self nothing to do with country because I think that DS games dont have NTSC, PAL etc.
