Is Atlanta,Georgia a good place to go for summer vacation?

This summer we were thinking of going to atlanta,georgia and i wanted to what there is to do there and if it is a good place to go. We have an 11 year old girl and a 13 year old boy is it a good place to go please answer.
 
It depends what you look for in a summer vacation. Since we're land-locked, there's no ocean -- and it does get hot here. People go swimming and boating in Lakes Allatoona or Lanier and there are plenty of public pools.

Do your kids want to go to museums on their summer break? Probably not -- but we have a few, as well as the Coca Cola "museum" and the Georgia Aquarium. There's also Six Flags -- which kids like, but it's not indigenous to Atlanta. One thing that your family might enjoy is tubing down the Chattahoochee in Helen. It's fun -- and not far away.

If it was my family, I think I'd stop in Atlanta and spend a couple of days here on my way to someplace else. Unless you're visiting with friends or family, the kids might legitimately be bored.
