Is bluetooth hacking still around?

I ask , because at my college the teachers and students have been warned that software is available that can hack into your phone and look at your files(pictures,music,etc) and even make calls on your phone .....I always thought you had to share a passcode with the other person for this to happen.....has an application been released since then?
They cant get your phone if you dont have Bluetooth on though....surely?

i know someone who has software called super bluetooth
he has all the numbers on my phonebook all my music pictures and videos and can even play music off my phone
no they cant thorugh your phone if you havnt got bluetooth
