Hi all
I live in Austalia and have a BMW 525e (Manufactured Jan 1987, Manual with A/C) - this car seems to be missing its Fan Shroud. BMW dont list a shroud for the 525e and my local BMW cannot help me, however when I look up the 528e (which I beleive is the identical car just sold in America - Please correct me if i'm wrong) it lists fan shroud OEM part no 17111151826.
My 525e has the crossflow radiator with the expansion tank / bottle which I beleive is OEM part no 17111151790
Im wondering if anyone knows whether the fan shroud part no 17111151826 is the shroud to suit my radiator and 525e?
I am at a loss - many say my car shouldnt have a shroud, however the viscous fan sits a good 15-20cm away from the radiator - It has a viscous fan which I know works but wont cut in as it sits too far away to sense the temp. I just cant see how it would do anything sitting so far from the radiator without a shroud. Also given the 528e is supposed to be the same car why would it list a shroud and the 525e not?
