Is Christmas a good time to visit Disneyland?

We arrive in LA on the 1st December and wanted to know if we should go to Disneyland then or wait until the 25th. I heard that during the winter they close rides down for maintenance and the Fastpass service isn't available; I am a ride junkie and hate waiting in lines. Also, during that time are the decorations up; my partner loves Christmas. THANKS HEAPS for any help!!!
